Learn About the City of Concord, New Hampshire

Concord is New Hampshire’s capital, and is located in the south central portion of the state, just north of the state’s largest city, Manchester. With a population of just over 42,000 residents, Concord is a fairly small city, though it does contain several of the state’s most important schools. It has been populated since the early 18th century, and was originally incorporated as the town of Rumford. Economically, Concord grew in strength in the past due to successful granite quarrying, textile manufacturing, and furniture crafting. Its population grew fairly rapidly throughout the 19th century as a result.

Today, Concord has begun growing again. Its modern economy is based on the health care industry, though several insurance companies are also operating in the area. Perhaps the city’s greatest success is being the location of the headquarters of Concord Litho, a commercial printing company in operation since 1958. Despite being one of the largest printing companies in the region, it has maintained its independence in ownership. Still, not all of Concord’s attractions are new – the New Hampshire State House, originally completed in 1819 by architect Stuart Park, is a popular destination for tourists interested in viewing the granite building with its gold dome.

Concord, like all New Hampshire cities, has cold, snowy winters and warm, pleasant summers. To start a move to Concord, get started by obtaining free Concord auto transport quotes.
