The company was originally established as a shipbroker service back in 1961. As a shipping agent, Interocean Shipping Company handles dry cargo such as fertilizers, metals and coal, as well as agricultural cargo such as vegetable oils, grains and molasses. The group helps customers in areas such as new shipbuilding, formation of new shipping companies, negotiating supply contracts and voyage calculations. It also conducts services such as hull, machinery and cargo inspections on behalf of ship owners. Interocean recently also launched a logistics division that provides services such as freight forwarding and supply chain management services. The Interocean Group logistics division is one of the fastest growing units of the company, with offices throughout India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
